Wear OS: Wild Kratts & OddSquad

Client: PBS Kids / Google
Role: Animator / Game Developer
Platform: Google Wear OS Smartwatch
Tools: Rive (vector animation)

This project involved the creation of two smartwatch games for PBS Kids, built specifically for Google’s Wear OS platform. Designed to be small in size yet high in engagement, both games blended physical activity and educational gameplay with branded content from Wild Kratts and Odd Squad.

🐾 Wild Kratts: Creature Power Up

Players join the Kratt Brothers on a smartwatch-powered adventure, where they unlock animal facts and perform physical challenges like running, jumping, or roaring to transform into different animals using the show’s signature “creature powers.”

⏰ Odd Squad Time Unit

Aimed at teaching kids how to tell time, this game presents a mix of fitness-based challenges and clock-reading puzzles, helping players progress through agent ranks while collecting quirky creatures in the Odd Squad universe.

To optimise performance and stay within the storage limitations of Wear OS, we used Rive, a lightweight vector animation tool that enabled smooth, scalable animations without bloating the app size.
