Audio Library Tagger
Client: Personal Project (Gumroad)
Role: Tool Design / Backend Development / UX
Tools: Python, Flask, SQLite, PANNs, librosa
Audio Library Tagger is a local AI-powered search tool for large personal audio collections. Built to replace the endless folder-digging workflow, it scans your entire sound library, classifies every file using a neural network, and gives you a fast browser-based search interface — without uploading a single file to the cloud.
What’s Included?
AI Sound Classification Point the scanner at any folder and walk away. Google’s PANNs neural network (527 AudioSet categories) runs on every file via GPU, detecting explosions, rain, footsteps, pianos, engines, crowds, and hundreds more — each with a confidence score.
Music Feature Extraction librosa analyses every file for BPM, musical key, loudness, spectral brightness, and texture. These feed into semantic tags — tempo (slow/fast), energy (quiet/loud), mood (bright/dark), and type (one-shot/loop/full track) — applied automatically.
Browser Search Interface A lightweight local web app lets you search and filter your entire library instantly. Free-text search across filenames and all AI tags, sidebar facet filters, duration range filtering, in-browser audio preview, copy path to clipboard, and open-in-Explorer — all from localhost.
Fully Local & Resumable Everything runs on your own machine. No cloud, no subscription, no ongoing costs. The scanner is fully resumable — stop it any time and restart to pick up exactly where it left off. Already-tagged files are skipped automatically.
